Your guinea pig-loving piano students will love putting their music theory to the test with these adorable music games! 
 
WHAT IS IT? 
 
Five different games with five different focuses: 
 
1. CARROT COLLECTION: KEYBOARD GEOGRAPHY
 
Players take turns to identify the stave note and find its matching piano key. 
They then either add a carrot/s to their collection OR miss a turn OR give one of their carrots to the hungry guinea pigs. 
The player with the most carrots when the timer rings is the winner! 
 
2. GUINEA PIG FLOWER SHOP: BASIC NOTE VALUES 
 
Ginny the Guinea Pig has opened a flower shop (adorable, I know) and she has a lot of customers
Each customer has a certain amount of music dollars to spend. 
Your student is given the task to figure out how many music dollars each guinea pig has and what they can buy from the shop (Ginny doesn't give change) 
 
3. GUINEA PIG PAINTERS: NOTE READING (C3 to C5) 
Did you know guinea pigs are great painters? (Me neither, but apparently they are!) 
Players take turns identifying the notes on the question cards and moving to the matching lettered spaces. 
Climb up ladders to the guinea pigs’ easels BUT watch out for spilt paint that will make you fall down!
The first to reach the end is the winner!
 
4. GUINEA PIG RUN: INTERVALS (2nds and 3rds)
 
Which guinea pig is the speediest? It’s time to find out!
Players take turns identifying the intervals on the question cards and moving that many spaces forward.
Will you take a detour to find a secret friend who will give you two extra turns?
Or will you land on a naptime space and have to miss a turn? 
The first to reach the end is the winner!
 
5. POPCORN GUINEA PIGS: TONES & SEMITONES 
 
When guinea pigs are super happy they jump up and twist about. This is called ‘popcorning’ 
Players take turns identifying whether the guinea pigs on the piano cards are a tone or a semitone apart.
A semitone = move one space
A tone = move two spaces
Whoever reaches the end first is the winner!
