Reinforce your students' understanding of the Circle of Fifths and chords with this music game!
WHAT IS IT?
I was explaining the Circle of Fifths to a student and I found myself using a neighbourhood analogy.
The student's piece was in C major, so we found C and then we found all her "neighbours" who live nearby and all get on.
It made sense to her, so I turned it into a game!
BASICALLY....
Each player is given either a major or minor neighbour.
Players then move around the piano board (by rolling a dice).
When they land on a chord, they identify it, and work out if it's part of their neighbourhood.
If it is, they add a house to their board (in the correct scale degree position)
The first player to fill their neighbourhood is the winner.
