Neapolitan Inversions

Chords and inversions are tastier with ice cream!

Whenever I talk about chords, I either refer to snowmen or ice cream.

Since we already have Snowmen Inversions I thought we needed a physical ice cream game, too!

WHAT IS IT?

Students are challenged to make ice creams that match the cones and cherries.

For example, if they are given a G minor cone and a 'root' cherry, they stack a G scoop, Bb scoop, and a D scoop.

But if they were given a C major cone and a '2nd inversion' cherry, they would stack a G scoop, a C scoop, then an E scoop.

It's a great physical way to talk about inversions and perfect for students who can't get their head around reordering the notes in a chord.
